Human EDTA Plasma

Biospecimens

Accelerate research with high-quality Human EDTA Plasma Samples, supported by comprehensive clinical data for biomedical discoveries.

Human EDTA Plasma from Bay Biosciences is whole blood derived from unique donors. The whole blood is collected from consented donors under IRB approved collection protocols and processed into plasma via centrifugation. The plasma is frozen immediately after processing to ensure high quality.

What is Human Plasma?

Human blood plasma is a clear to yellow liquid which comprises approximately 55% of the total volume of blood. Plasma is collected by adding an anticoagulant such as EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) to whole blood, preventing the blood from clotting. The blood is spun which separates it into 3 layers: plasma, a buffy coat (white blood cells and platelets) and red blood cells. This plasma contains hormones, glucose, electrolytes, antibodies, antigens, nutrients, clotting factors and other blood particles. Plasma is a major source of biomarkers, and as such, it is often used for diagnostic testing.

Viral Testing

Each unit is tested for the standard FDA-required viral markers, and found negative for HBsAg, HCV, HIV-1/HIV-2 Antigen Antibody Combo, and Anti T. Pallidum using FDA-approved methods. While we make every effort to ensure the safety of our products, we recommend following universal precautions as laid out the following organizations WHO, CDC and OSHA, handle biological materials as if capable of spreading infectious disease.

Donor Specifications

Bay Biosciences has a wide network of approved collection centers across the world and United States, which allows us to collect from nearly any donor type. We can accommodate demographic requests from a variety of genders, races, and ages. We are also able to work with custom collection requests and protocols. If you have custom demographic or collection requests, please let us know.

Anticoagulants

We can collect this product using the anticoagulant that will work best for your research. Our standard anticoagulant options include K2 EDTA, K3 EDTA, Na EDTA, Na Citrate, Na Heparin, and Li Heparin, with others available upon request.
