Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis Disease Samples
Bay Biosciences provides high quality, clinical grade bio-samples, cryogenically preserved biopsy tissue, FFPE blocks with matched sera (serum), plasma and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) biofluid specimens from patients diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis disease.
Moreover, The sera (serum), plasma and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) biofluid samples are processed from patient’s peripheral whole-blood using customized collection and processing protocols. The Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis bio-specimens are collected from unique patients diagnosed with from Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis disorder and are provided to a valued pharmaceutical customer for genomics, proteomics, biomarkers, research, development and drug discovery.
Furthermore, detailed clinical data, elevated levels of TPO antibodies, biomarkers, TSH, T4, anti-thyroid autoantibodies, CT, MRI, genetic information, biopsy, pathology annotations associated with the Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis patient’s specimens is provided to a valued customer for research, development and drug discovery.
In addition, the Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis disease sera (serum), plasma and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) biofluid samples are processed from patients peripheral whole-blood using customized collection and processing protocols provided by the researcher.
Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis Disease
Hashimoto’s disease is a condition in which the immune system attacks the thyroid, which can lead to hypothyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid does not make enough hormones for the body’s needs. Thyroid is a small gland at the base of the neck below the Adam’s apple. The thyroid gland is part of the endocrine system, which produces hormones that coordinate many of the body’s functions. The thyroid gland makes hormones that control metabolism. This includes the heart rate and how quickly the body uses calories from the foods consumed. Inflammation from Hashimoto’s disease, also known as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, often leads to an under-active thyroid gland (hypothyroidism). Hashimoto’s disease is the most common cause of hypothyroidism. It primarily affects middle-aged women but can also occur in men and women of any age and in children.

Signs and Symptoms of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis
The first sign of the disease is often an enlarged thyroid, called a goiter. The goiter may cause the front of the neck to look swollen, a large goiter may make swallowing difficult. Hashimoto’s disease typically progresses slowly over years and causes chronic thyroid damage, leading to a drop in thyroid hormone levels in the blood. The signs and symptoms are mainly those of an under-active thyroid gland (hypothyroidism). Signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism include:
- Weight gain
- Fatigue and sluggishness
- Increased sensitivity to cold
- Constipation
- Paleness, dry skin
- A puffy face
- Brittle nails
- Hair loss
- Enlargement of the tongue
- Unexplained weight gain
- Muscle aches, tenderness and stiffness
- Joint pain and stiffness
- Muscle weakness
- Irregular, excessive or prolonged menstrual bleeding
- Depression
- Difficulty getting pregnant
- Memory lapses
Causes of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis
Hashimoto’s disease is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system creates antibodies that damage the thyroid gland. Doctors don’t know what causes the immune system to attack the thyroid gland. Some scientists think a virus or bacterium might trigger the response, while others believe a genetic flaw may be involved. A combination of factors, including heredity, sex and age may determine your likelihood of developing the disorder.
Biospecimens

Bay Biosciences is a global leader in providing researchers with high quality, clinical grade, fully characterized human tissue samples, bio-specimens, and human bio-fluid collections.
Moreover, human biospecimens are available including tumor tissue, serum, plasma and PBMC samples from most other therapeutic areas.
Furthermore, Bay Biosciences maintains and manages its own biorepository, the human tissue bank (biobank) consisting of thousands of diseased samples (specimens) and likewise normal healthy donors for controls. Additionally, available in all formats and types.
In fact, our biobank procures and stores fully consented, de-identified and institutional review boards (IRB) approved human tissue samples, human biofluids such as serum samples, plasma samples from various diseases and matched controls.
Also, all our human tissue collections, human biospecimens and human biofluids are provided with detailed, samples associated patient’s clinical data.
In fact, this critical patient’s clinical data includes information relating to their past and current disease, treatment history, lifestyle choices, biomarkers, and genetic information.
Additionally, researchers find the patient’s data associated with the human biospecimens extremely valuable and use it to help identify new effective treatments (drug discovery & development) in oncology, as well as in other therapeutic areas and diseases.
Bay Biosciences banks wide variety of human tissue samples and human biological samples, including fresh frozen human biospecimens cryogenically preserved at – 80°C.
For example fresh frozen tissue samples, tumor tissue samples, formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE), tissue slides, with matching human bio-fluids, whole blood and blood-derived products such as human serum, human plasma and human PBMCs.
Bay Biosciences is a global leader in collecting and providing human tissue samples according to the specified requirements and customized, tailor-made collection protocols.
